A clinical study of the hysterical Neurosis



Abstract
Clinical studies of the frequency, features of symptom, and socio-cultural background of 46 hospitalized hysterical neurotics during 3 years period from Jan. 1976 until Dec. 1978 in Seoul Red Cross hospital, revealed following results.
1) Admission rate of hysterical neurosis was observed in 10.4% of total hospitalized psychiatric cases.
2) In age distribution the highest frequency was observed in 3rd decade, 2nd and 4th decade were followed.
3) High incidence of economical states were noticed in middle and lower middle class. (58.7%).
4) Most frequent incidence of educational state was observed in high school members.
5) In occupational distribution, the highest incidence was observed in students in male and housewives in female.
6) Psychosomatic symptoms and pain are more frequently observed than other classical symptoms.
7) The most frequent precipitating factor was observed in conflicting problems with husband, followed by in school work, here husband¢¥s family in female- patients.
